Summer birds of Hungary
This short set of clips was from my June 2025 trip to see the summer birds of Hungary. We stayed at the Oriole Echo Lodge in the village of Tiszaalpár and were hosted by István Bártol who could not have done more to make us welcome and with his team, ferry us around to the various hides of the Kiskunság National Park. István is a science graduate who specialised in bird ecology for his PhD and now works as a warden in the park.
There were a variety of hides ranging from a quarry hide for the Bee-eaters; woodland hides where I saw my first Turtle Dove; and a Tall Hide that puts you into the tree tops for a great view of nesting Kestrels, Rollers and Red-Footed Flacons. My thanks again to Lilian King who organised the trip and David Richardson who gave me a crash course in taking video clips on a Nikon Z8!
